RailTel Shares Surges 8% After Grabbing HPCL Contracts, Buy or Sell? Check Recommendation

Today, on March 24th 2025, the state-owned company RailTel Share Price underwent a surge of 8% in its share prices since the opening bell. The share value spiked after RailTel announced its deal worth Rs 25.15 crore (excluding tax) with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited. 

The contract dictates a five-year deal to renew the existing MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) and ILL (Internet Leased Line) links. The deal also entails new connections during the five years.

Today, RailTel shares opened to the market at Rs. 318.00 and are currently up by 2.3% compared to the opening bell rates and by 5% compared to the previous close of 309.75. The shares recorded a day-high of 339.40 around 11 a.m., a 9% climb from the last close.

RailTel Share Price in Today’s Market

At 12:00 p.m., RailTel sold their shares for Rs.325.85, nearly 2.4% higher than the opening rate. And 5% higher than its previous close. According to the reports and estimates on Money Control, the current market capitalisation shows 10,462 cores; the UC Limit is 371.70, and the LC Limit is 247.80.

Company Financials

RailTel is a Navratna PSU that works on communications projects and helps enhance train control operations and safety systems. For Q3 of FY 2024-25, the company reported Rs.768 crore in revenue from operations, a 15% increase from Rs. 668 crore in Its Profit After Tax stood at Rs. 65 crore, a 5% increase in year-on-year growth. RailTel recorded Rs. 338 crore in revenues from telecom services and Rs. 430 crore in project services revenue.

  • On March 20th 2025, The Ministry of Defence signed with RailTel to execute optical fibre cable (OFC) laying work, with a completion target of March 17th, 2026. The order is valued at Rs. 16.89 crore
  • In March 2025, a project worth over Rs. 262 crore from the State Transport Authority of Odisha was given to RailTel. The contract requires RailTel to upgrade the existing Command Control Centre into a Unified Command Control Centre and implement an Intelligent Enforcement Management System (IEMS). ​
  • On February 26th, RailTel announced a second interim dividend at 10%.
