PhonePe has introduced PulsePro, an enterprise intelligence platform that converts anonymised digital payment data into near real-time, hyperlocal market insights. Targeted at large and mid-sized businesses, the service helps track consumer spending patterns, category performance, and expansion opportunities across India with granular geographic and demographic detail.
What the platform offers
Positioned as a commercial upgrade to PhonePe Pulse, the company’s free public data portal launched in 2021, PulsePro delivers deeper, paid insights tailored for enterprise use. It draws on transaction signals from over 700 million registered users and 50 million merchants on PhonePe’s network, covering nearly 99% of Indian pincodes to map demand across urban and rural markets.
Unlike traditional research that relies on surveys and small samples, PulsePro uses aggregated and anonymised transaction data to reflect actual purchase behaviour as it evolves. Businesses can slice data by week, fortnight, month, or quarter, and drill down from state and district right to pincode, 1 km × 1 km, and even 250 m × 250 m grids for precise location planning.
The platform segments consumer trends by age, gender, affluence tiers, and Gen Z cohorts, and tracks spending across 200+ retail categories and 100+ market signals. This enables users to benchmark categories, spot growth pockets, and assess channel potential with greater confidence.
Three core solutions for decision-makers
- Category & Growth Intelligence: Monitors category momentum, identifies emerging demand clusters, and highlights white spaces for product and service expansion.
- Retail Network Intelligence: Optimises distribution and last-mile coverage by pinpointing high-potential catchments, guiding city-level buildouts, and surfacing rural growth corridors using real transaction density and value.
- Hyperlocal Intelligence: Supports site selection for stores, service centres, and franchise outlets by evaluating micro-market demand, footfall proxies, and digital payment activity prior to capex deployment.
PhonePe’s Head of Strategy, Karthik Raghupathy, said the platform addresses delays and sampling gaps in conventional research by giving enterprises access to live transaction trends for faster, data-led decisions.
Illustrative trends from PulsePro data
Showcasing the platform’s granularity, PhonePe cited examples such as Chakan (Pune) leading in OTT users, Marathahalli (Bengaluru) topping late-night ordering, and Maharashtra ranking highest for pet-related spends. Kurung Kumey in Arunachal Pradesh recorded lifestyle spending nearly three times the state average, while Jabalpur led healthcare spends in Madhya Pradesh.
The company also reported its highest single-day transaction value on 2 March 2026, crossing ₹65,000 crore—coinciding with the first working Monday of the month ahead of Holi and amid geopolitical developments in the Middle East. Another spike was observed on 19 April 2026 during Akshaya Tritiya, when a jewellery outlet saw peak activity on the platform.
Privacy, compliance, and industry context
PhonePe emphasised that all insights are derived from aggregated and anonymised data, with no personal identifiers, merchant identities, or individual transaction details exposed. As such, the company says PulsePro operates outside most consent requirements of the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023, though users may still review privacy settings if they wish to limit data use for analytics.
The launch underscores a broader fintech trend in India: leveraging high-frequency, large-scale payment datasets to create enterprise-grade decision tools. With PulsePro, PhonePe extends beyond payments into market intelligence, aiming to help companies navigate shifting consumer demand through timely, privacy-conscious analytics.
