HMD is expanding its hybrid phone lineup globally with the HMD Touch AI, a device that blends feature phone simplicity with modern technology. After launching in China earlier this year, the phone is now ready for international markets including India.
Compact Design with Touchscreen Display
The HMD Touch AI features a 3.2-inch touchscreen display housed in a compact body. It runs a closed operating system that blocks third-party app downloads and short-video applications. The phone includes parental controls, blacklist and whitelist functions, plus built-in utilities like MP3 player, calendar, alarm clock, world clock, countdown timer, calculator, unit converter and snake game.
Six AI Assistants and Voice Features
The device runs on ByteDance’s Doubao AI model and packs six AI assistants. These handle conversation help, storytelling, question answering, emotional guidance, Chinese-English translation and pronunciation correction. The AI can also explain homework solutions and generate artwork from text prompts. A full voice broadcast feature reads on-screen content aloud, reducing screen time.
Camera and Imaging Capabilities
HMD Touch AI has a circular rear camera module with a 2-megapixel rear sensor and a front camera. It supports AI-powered image recognition, AI image generation and style conversion. Users can transform photos into animation, comic or traditional Chinese painting styles. The phone also delivers retro CCD-style imaging effects.
Connectivity and Battery
The phone supports dual nano SIM cards with dual 4G standby, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, hotspot sharing and a USB Type-C port. It can connect to home and public Wi-Fi networks and share internet with tablets and laptops. A 1950mAh battery powers the device with USB Type-C charging. The international version may include Alipay QR code payment support and a customizable top button for SOS emergency alerts.
Pricing and Availability
Global market pricing has not been announced yet. The international version will come in White and Gold color options. It targets users seeking digital detox while maintaining basic connectivity, elderly users and those wanting a secondary phone. The HMD Touch 4G was launched in India in October 2025 as a predecessor.
