Dr Akanksha Singh, a scientist at CSIR-CIMAP, has been selected for the prestigious NASI Young Scientist Award 2026. This marks her third major national honour in a single year, highlighting her outstanding contributions to agricultural science.

Research and Expertise

Dr Singh works as Scientist-D at CSIR-CIMAP in the Crop Protection and Production Division. She holds a PhD in Botany. Her research focuses on plant health, crop protection, and sustainable agriculture.

She studies plant-microbe interactions, fungal diseases, and biological crop protection. Her work includes developing fungicides and eco-friendly disease management methods. The goal is to reduce dependence on chemical pesticides while keeping crops safe from disease.

Three National Honours in One Year

The NASI Young Scientist Award 2026 is Dr Singh’s third major recognition this year. A total of 16 scientists from various fields have been selected for this award. Earlier in 2026, she was elected a member of the Indian National Young Science Academy (INYAS). She was also chosen as a Young Associate of the Indian National Science Academy (INSA). Three national-level honours in one year mark a significant milestone in her scientific career.

The National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI) was founded in 1930. It is one of India’s oldest science academies. The NASI Young Scientist Award honours promising researchers who make significant contributions early in their careers. Dr Singh will receive the award during NASI’s 96th Annual Session and Symposium at Banaras Hindu University on December 4-5, 2026.
