Hyundai has unveiled the all-new Tucson SUV in a bold new avatar. The new-generation model arrives nearly six years after the current Tucson’s launch. It brings a boxy design, bigger dimensions and a premium cabin.
New Boxy Design With H-Edge Lighting
The biggest change is the design. Sharp lines make way for a straighter, boxier look. A slim full-width light bar sits at the front. Below it lies a blacked-out grille section. Vertical LED DRLs on both sides are called H-Edge Lighting. Hyundai says these lights are part of its new Art of Steel design language.
The rear gets a connected LED light bar too. Red vertical light elements sit at both edges. The logo and Tucson lettering appear in the middle. Square wheel arches, a near-vertical windscreen and a raised spoiler complete the rugged look.
Bigger Dimensions and More Space
The new Tucson is bigger than before. Length is now 4,700 mm, width 1,905 mm and height 1,685 mm. Wheelbase stands at 2,785 mm. Length grows by 60 mm and wheelbase by 30 mm. Width increases by 40 mm.
Rear passengers benefit the most. Second-row headroom is now 1,031 mm, up 29 mm. Rear door opening angle rises from 73 degrees to 83 degrees. Getting in and out is easier.
Premium Cabin With Twin Screens
The cabin gets a new look. Two connected screens sit in a single housing. The left is a digital instrument cluster. The right is a large touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and media functions. A two-spoke steering wheel with physical buttons faces the driver.
Orange ambient lighting runs along the dashboard and door panels. Light leather upholstery adds a premium feel.
New XRT Variant and Eight Colour Options
Hyundai has also added an XRT trim with the new Tucson. It targets buyers who want an adventure-oriented SUV. The XRT gets a more rugged treatment than the standard model. The SUV launches with eight exterior colour options. Five are new, including Serenity White Pearl and Driftwood Grey in matte and metallic finishes.
Powertrain Details Still Under Wraps
Hyundai has not shared full engine and powertrain details yet. The current model offers hybrid and non-hybrid options. The new generation is expected to continue with both. More details will come closer to launch.
