CARS24 Acquires CarInfo to Expand Vehicle Information Services and Strengthen Automotive Platform

CARS24 has acquired vehicle information platform CarInfo, marking a strategic move to extend its reach beyond used-car transactions into the broader vehicle ownership lifecycle. The acquisition integrates information services that help owners with documentation, compliance and routine vehicle management, enabling year-round engagement with customers.

What CarInfo offers

CarInfo aggregates essential vehicle-related data for users across India, including registration details, insurance and pollution certificate validity, FASTag status, and pending traffic challans. Its two-wheeler app, BikeInfo, is also part of the deal. Both products are known for presenting regulatory and ownership information in a simple, accessible format that helps users meet compliance requirements.

Operational continuity and user base

According to the companies, CarInfo and BikeInfo will continue to operate independently, with their existing teams managing day-to-day operations to ensure continuity for millions of users. Industry data indicate CarInfo serves over 12 million monthly active users, providing CARS24 with a substantial, engaged audience that routinely interacts with vehicle-data services.

Strategic rationale

CARS24 began primarily as a marketplace connecting used-car sellers with dealers and has progressively expanded its services to include inspections, RC transfers, financing and other transaction-related offerings. Ownership needs—such as checking documents, renewing insurance or tracking fines—arise far more frequently than buying or selling a vehicle. Integrating CarInfo’s data capabilities allows CARS24 to maintain ongoing relationships with owners, drive recurring engagement and cross-sell services like insurance, loans and inspections.

Deal terms and market impact

The companies have not publicly confirmed the purchase price. Regulatory filings and market reports suggest the transaction value may be in the region of Rs 118 crore, and CarInfo is expected to become a wholly owned subsidiary after completion of formalities. The acquisition strengthens CARS24’s ability to offer a unified digital experience across compliance, ownership and transaction touch points.

Addressing compliance friction

Indian vehicle owners often navigate multiple government portals and varied processes to remain compliant, which can lead to missed renewals or fines due to lack of timely information. CarInfo’s technology and consolidated data can help reduce this friction by delivering timely alerts and simplified access to official records, improving transparency in vehicle ownership management.

The road ahead

This acquisition underscores CARS24’s ambition to become a full-stack automotive platform in India. As competition intensifies in the used-vehicle and mobility-services sectors, firms are increasingly prioritising retention, recurring engagement and data-driven services. Bringing CarInfo into its ecosystem positions CARS24 to deepen customer relationships, expand service offerings and pursue long-term growth in the vehicle ownership market.
