Good Farmer Food Concepts, a Bengaluru-based food and beverage startup, has raised $1.5 million (about ₹13.6 crore) in a pre-Series A round led by CreedCap, with participation from former India cricket captain Rahul Dravid, tennis player Rohan Bopanna, and Meraki Sport & Entertainment. The funding will support aggressive expansion and product development as the company targets India’s premium coffee and specialty food market.
Funding to drive expansion and strengthen operations
The infusion of capital will be used to expand the company’s brick-and-mortar presence in major metro and lifestyle centres, including Mumbai, Delhi NCR and Bengaluru. Good Farmer plans to open new outlets while also investing in backend capabilities such as supply chain improvements, production infrastructure and research and development to support scalable growth.
Part of the funding will also accelerate the company’s consumer retail push. Good Farmer intends to launch additional at-home products, including speciality coffee roasts and curated brewing solutions, pursuing an omnichannel strategy that combines cafés, retail products and digital engagement to build brand recall among urban consumers.
Farm-to-cup sourcing and brand portfolio
At the core of Good Farmer’s proposition is a farm-to-cup model. Its flagship coffee brand, Maverick & Farmer Coffee, sources beans directly from the company’s estate in Coorg, Karnataka, enabling tighter quality control, experimentation and sustainable farming practices — elements the company highlights in its origin storytelling.
Beyond coffee, Good Farmer operates Square Burgers & Co., a modern quick-service concept focused on fresh ingredients and contemporary preparations. Together, the brands target consumers who prioritise transparency, taste and experience over mass-produced offerings.
Investor backing and market signal
The participation of noted sports figures Rahul Dravid and Rohan Bopanna brings both capital and brand association; Bopanna has previously collaborated with the company on a signature coffee blend. Industry observers say such endorsements — combined with CreedCap’s lead investment — lend credibility to craft-focused food startups seeking sustainable growth rather than discount-driven scale.
Growth outlook amid rising competition
Good Farmer currently operates multiple outlets across Bengaluru and Goa and plans steady expansion over the coming year. With rising demand for premium coffee, artisanal food and experience-driven dining in urban India, the startup believes the market is conducive to responsible scaling.
As competition intensifies in India’s café and QSR segments, Good Farmer’s emphasis on direct sourcing, product integrity and design-led experiences may help it differentiate and build a meaningful homegrown food and beverage platform.
