Exotel Acquires Dubverse Team to Strengthen Voice AI and Accelerate Growth

Exotel has acqui‑hired the core team of voice AI startup Dubverse, including cofounders Anuja Dhawan and Varshul Gupta, to bolster its conversational intelligence capabilities and enhance enterprise customer experience. The move is intended to strengthen Exotel’s voice AI stack and integrate advanced speech technologies into its communications platform.

Strategic acqui‑hire to deepen voice AI capabilities

Exotel, founded in 2011 and known for cloud telephony and business communication services, has been increasingly pivoting toward AI-driven customer engagement. By onboarding Dubverse’s team and technology, Exotel aims to accelerate development of multilingual voice generation, natural language understanding, and other conversational tools tailored for enterprise use.

Dubverse has built AI-powered speech and audio solutions that support multiple languages and regional accents—features that can be especially valuable for Indian enterprises operating across diverse linguistic markets. Integrating these capabilities is expected to improve automated customer interactions, IVR systems, and voice‑based analytics on Exotel’s platform.

Financial positioning and growth

According to reporting by Entrackr, Exotel has raised roughly $100 million to date from investors including Blume Ventures, A91 Partners and Sistema Asia. The company’s operating revenue increased about 10% to Rs 490.5 crore in FY25 from Rs 444.5 crore in FY24.

Exotel also reported a turnaround to profitability, posting a net profit of Rs 20 crore in FY25 versus a net loss of Rs 37 crore the previous year. The acqui‑hire is positioned as part of a broader strategy to expand product capabilities while consolidating commercial traction in the enterprise communications market.
