Bengaluru-based generative AI startup Gnani.ai has secured $10 million (about ₹94 crore) in a Series B round led by Aavishkaar Capital, with follow-on participation from existing backer Info Edge Ventures. The funds will accelerate expansion across new industry verticals and international markets while bolstering research, product development and talent acquisition in voice AI.
Funding to Fuel R&D, Market Expansion and Talent Hiring
Gnani.ai said the fresh capital will be channelled into developing its voice-first generative AI stack, scaling sales and partnerships, and strengthening engineering and research teams. A substantial portion is earmarked for R&D to enhance natural language understanding, multilingual capabilities and contextual voice interactions tailored for enterprise deployments.
Building Sovereign, India-First Voice AI
Founded in 2016 by Ganesh Gopalan and Ananth Nagaraj, Gnani.ai has been building a full-stack, voice-first generative AI ecosystem for enterprise use cases. The company unveiled its voice model “Inya” at the India Impact AI Summit 2026, reflecting a strategic push into sovereign AI — systems developed locally, aligned with cultural nuances and compliant with national data laws.
Sovereign AI emphasises data residency, regulatory compliance and contextual relevance. Gnani.ai aims to deliver voice agents capable of understanding multiple Indian languages and dialects, supporting human-like conversational experiences for customer service, automation and analytics.
Enterprise Traction Across Sectors
Gnani.ai’s solutions are deployed across banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI), telecom, e-commerce, healthcare and consumer internet companies. Its platform supports voice automation, agent assistance and analytics-driven customer engagement to reduce handling times and improve customer experience.
The company says it serves over 200 enterprise clients and has onboarded more than 150 customers onto its Inya platform, indicating growing commercial adoption of conversational and voice-based automation in India.
Context: India’s Growing Voice AI Opportunity
India’s multilingual, mobile-first population and accelerating digitisation have created fertile ground for voice AI. Startups building locally relevant models and compliance-aware infrastructure are attracting investor interest as enterprises seek scalable conversational solutions.
The Series B round underscores rising investor confidence in India’s AI ecosystem, particularly in conversational AI and sovereign infrastructure. As competition increases, Gnani.ai’s emphasis on voice-first, enterprise-grade products could bolster its position in domestic and international markets.
