Namma Yatri, a Bengaluru-based mobility startup, has raised fresh capital from existing investors to scale its driver-first ride-hailing platform and strengthen its technology. Backed by Google and earlier venture rounds, the company plans to broaden its reach across Indian cities while deepening product development and integrations with national digital infrastructure.
Investment underscores confidence in driver-first approach
Existing backers participated in the latest funding round, reflecting investor confidence in Namma Yatri’s model that prioritises driver earnings and transparency. The company has not disclosed the precise amount raised. The injection of capital is expected to be deployed into technology upgrades, product development and geographic expansion.
Funding history and strategic backing
Prior to this round, Namma Yatri raised about $11 million in a pre-Series A round led by Blume Ventures and Antler, with participation from Google. That capital supported the startup’s initial roll‑out, platform enhancements and driver acquisition efforts, helping it scale operations since launching in 2022.
Driver-centric subscription model
Operated under Moving Tech — a company that traces its origins to payments infrastructure firm Juspay — Namma Yatri differentiates itself from commission-based ride-hailing players by offering a subscription model for drivers. Rather than taking a percentage cut of each trip, the platform charges a fixed fee, enabling drivers to retain a larger share of trip earnings.
The model aims to improve driver livelihoods and reduce opaque pricing practices common in the sector, while providing predictable costs for drivers and more transparent fare mechanics for passengers.
Open infrastructure and ONDC alignment
Namma Yatri has developed its platform on principles of open digital infrastructure and is aligned with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). This alignment supports interoperability with other mobility and commerce services, a strategic priority as India moves towards open networks for broader digital inclusion.
Expansion across cities and product roadmap
Since its 2022 debut in Bengaluru, Namma Yatri has expanded into multiple Indian cities and facilitated millions of rides, building a base of drivers and users. With new funds, the company plans to accelerate its product roadmap, integrate multiple transport modes and deepen city-level operations to offer more seamless urban travel.
Facing intense competition from established ride-hailing platforms, Namma Yatri is positioning itself as a homegrown alternative focused on affordability, transparency and improved driver earnings — attributes it argues will be increasingly important as urban mobility evolves in India.
