As India faces a rising burden of lifestyle diseases and rising treatment costs, a Kerala-based startup is rolling out a preventive healthcare model that combines early screening, lifestyle counselling and community outreach to reduce future clinical demand and improve population well‑being.
Preventive, community‑centric care
Happiness Cosmos LLP, registered with Kerala Startup Mission and Startup India, will open its first Happiness Rejuvenation Center (HRC) in Peravoor, Kannur district this January. The HRC concept emphasises prevention over episodic, hospital‑based treatment by offering early health screenings, fitness guidance, rejuvenation therapies and lifestyle management from a single local hub.
“Healthcare should not begin when people fall sick. It should be part of everyday life,” said founder and chairman Sarayogi Biju Sivanandan, describing the aim to shift services from hospital‑centric to community‑centric delivery so risks are identified and addressed earlier.
Scale, technology and outreach
The company plans to establish 500 HRCs across South India within the next three years, creating a decentralised network intended to ease pressure on tertiary facilities by promoting earlier intervention and routine wellness practices at the community level.
Complementing physical centres, Happiness Cosmos is developing health‑monitoring products, including the HRC Lifering — a smart fitness ring designed to track core physiological indicators and support daily wellness habits. The startup is also working on home‑based preventive devices to help users monitor health parameters between clinical visits, while emphasising these tools do not replace medical diagnosis or professional consultation.
Mission Healthy Kerala
Under its Mission Healthy Kerala community programme, the startup aims to train 100,000 health volunteers across 1,000 panchayats. Implemented with NGOs, corporate partners and local institutions, the volunteers will promote preventive healthcare, mental well‑being, early screening and healthy lifestyle practices at the grassroots.
International collaboration and advisory
To bolster its technology and research capabilities, Happiness Cosmos has signed an MoU with Jin Fusheng Biotechnology, a China‑based firm founded in 1998 that develops graphene‑based medical and health technologies. The partnership is positioned to facilitate the transfer of advanced preventive solutions into the Indian market.
Medical oversight for the initiative is provided by Dr. Arun Oomen, senior neurosurgeon and chief medical advisor. The founding team comprises Manoj Rohini, Manikandan P, Surya S Subash, Mohammed Shamseer, Abidha Abdul Rahiman and Nisha PP. Global engagement and wellness advocacy are supported by Vijay Anand, Global Happiness Ambassador, while Arun Mohan serves as Vice President – Global Sales for international business development.
Context within India’s health landscape
India’s public health discourse increasingly emphasises prevention as a strategy to contain non‑communicable diseases and reduce long‑term treatment costs. Happiness Cosmos’s combination of local centres, volunteer networks and digital monitoring reflects this wider policy and market shift toward proactive well‑being and community empowerment.
