KTM India has raised the price of its entry-level sports bike KTM RC 160 by approximately Rs 15,000 in the domestic market. The revised pricing brings the RC 160 dangerously close to the Yamaha R15 V4 top-end variant, which costs about Rs 1.98 lakh. This price revision has reshaped the competitive landscape in the entry-level sports bike segment.

New Price and Competition

With the price hike, the KTM RC 160 now sits very close to the Yamaha R15 V4. The Yamaha bike is roughly Rs 2,000 cheaper than the KTM RC 160 after this revision. The KTM RC 200 is priced at Rs 2.32 lakh ex-showroom, making it only Rs 32,000 more expensive than the RC 160 now. This small gap could push many buyers toward the more powerful RC 200.

Engine and Performance

The KTM RC 160 is powered by a 164.2cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. It produces 18.73bhp of maximum power at 9,500rpm and 15.5Nm of peak torque at 7,500rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox for smooth power delivery. KTM claims the bike can reach a top speed of 118 km/h with ease.

Suspension and Braking

The motorcycle is built on a trellis frame for strength and superior agility. It gets 37mm inverted forks at the front and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear for better riding comfort. Braking is handled by a 320mm disc at the front and a 230mm disc at the rear. Dual-channel ABS comes standard for enhanced safety on Indian roads. The KTM RC 160 packs a strong feature set for its segment.

Features and Specifications

The KTM RC 160 comes with a 13.75-litre metal fuel tank and clip-on handlebars for a sporty riding posture. It features full-LED lighting all around and an LCD instrument cluster. The Yamaha R15 V4 offers a TFT display, traction control, and a quickshifter despite its lower price tag. Both bikes compete in the same enthusiast-focused segment with different feature sets.
