NHPC Share Price Falls 2%, Should You Buy or Sell? Check Recommendation

Today, on 4th April 2025, the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation saw a slight slip in its share prices. Recent shifts in market sentiments and developments from the company’s side may have swayed investor confidence. 

Yesterday, NHPC’s shares were on a slight rise as the new  Parbati II project in Himachal Pradesh, which has a capacity of 800 MW, commenced. Today, the stock began to decline.

NHPC’s trades began at Rs. 84.50, a modest decrease from yesterday’s ending session rates, Rs. 84.53. The share prices are currently down by 0.4% compared to the opening bell rates. The company saw a day low of 82.85, a 2% fall from the last close.

At 12:05 p.m., NHPC traded its shares at Rs. 84.12, nearly 0.48% lower than its previous close. According to the reports and estimates on Money Control, the current market capitalization shows 84,518 cores; the UC Limit is 92.98, and the LC Limit is 76.07.

Company Financials

In the third quarter of FY 2024–2025, NHPC generated a net profit of Rs. 231 crores, 52.5% higher than the Rs. 486.7 crores it generated in the same period the previous year.  The operational revenue of NHPC increased by 11.3% to Rs. 2,286.8 crore; a modest increase over the same period the previous year, the total income recorded was Rs. 2,616.89 crore, up from Rs. 2,549.69 crore.

  • On 19th March 2025, the NHPC board nodded yes to a borrowing strategy to raise up to Rs. 6,300 crore through various financial channels during the FY 2025–2026.
  • To enhance Kuppa Pumped Storage’s energy storage, NHPC intends to start making investments in FY 2025–2026.
  • The 300 MW solar power plant owned by NHPC in Bikaner is now connected to the Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS). This connection expanded NHPC’s renewable energy sources range.
