BillionE Mobility, an electric mobility startup based in Vadodara, has raised $25 million (about ₹207 crore) in a growth round to accelerate deployment of electric trucks across India’s industrial corridors, underscoring rising investor interest in sustainable logistics and the scaling of the country’s electric commercial vehicle market.
Funding structure and strategic intent
The financing, a mix of equity and debt, was backed by financial institutions, family offices and high-net-worth investors focused on clean energy and infrastructure. BillionE says the capital will strengthen its position as a full‑stack electric mobility service provider for commercial logistics, enabling faster vehicle rollouts and broader ecosystem investments.
Plans to scale electric truck fleet
Using the fresh funds, BillionE plans to deploy more than 500 electric heavy‑duty trucks by the end of fiscal 2026–27. The vehicles will serve major industrial corridors and sectors such as cement, steel, FMCG, automotive and e‑commerce, where medium- and heavy‑duty freight accounts for a significant share of emissions and operating costs.
Operating on an electric mobility‑as‑a‑service (eMaaS) model, BillionE allows enterprises to transition to electric powertrains without upfront vehicle purchase. This asset‑light approach is designed to lower adoption barriers for logistics and manufacturing firms by combining predictable operating costs with reduced emissions.
Building an integrated EV logistics ecosystem
Founded in 2021, BillionE’s proposition extends beyond vehicles to include charging infrastructure, fleet management, telematics and data‑driven optimisation. These capabilities are critical to ensure operational reliability, range assurance and turnaround times for commercial electric trucks on long haul and inter‑city routes.
The company reports a strong order pipeline and long‑term contracts for hundreds of trucks, reflecting enterprise demand for decarbonisation as businesses seek to meet sustainability targets and contain rising fuel bills.
Policy tailwinds and industry implications
The funding arrives amid active government measures to promote electric mobility, including incentives and policy initiatives aimed at encouraging electric freight. Such support reduces adoption frictions for EV trucks, particularly in inter‑city and industrial logistics, where charging infrastructure and total cost of ownership are decisive factors.
Industry analysts say a combination of policy push and private capital investment can accelerate transformation of India’s trucking sector, which remains a major contributor to transport emissions and diesel consumption.
Geographic expansion and partnerships
BillionE plans to expand across key industrial regions in western, northern and southern India, partnering with fleet operators, large enterprises and infrastructure providers to ensure smooth EV truck operations and scale charging networks.
Company leadership argues that electric trucks will be central to India’s clean mobility transition as businesses prioritize sustainability, regulatory compliance and cost efficiency. The $25 million infusion positions BillionE for growth while reinforcing the broader shift toward greener, technology‑driven logistics solutions in India.
