Bengaluru-based EV firm Exponent Energy will raise $20 million (about ₹165 crore) in an extended Series B, underscoring growing investor confidence in India’s electric mobility sector as demand for faster, reliable charging solutions rises—particularly for commercial vehicles and last-mile logistics.
Fast-charging technology and product ecosystem
Founded in 2020, Exponent Energy has developed a proprietary rapid-charging system that the company says can charge electric vehicles from 0 to 100% in approximately 15 minutes. Its offering is a full-stack ecosystem—comprising battery packs, charging stations and connectors—designed to operate together to reduce charging time, extend battery life and lower range anxiety.
The startup is primarily targeting commercial EVs, notably electric three-wheelers used extensively for deliveries and intra-city logistics across India, where quick turnaround times and vehicle uptime are critical for operators.
Use of funds and market strategy
The fresh capital will be deployed to scale Exponent Energy’s fast-charging infrastructure across major Indian cities and to deepen collaborations with OEMs and fleet operators. The company aims to build a dense network of interoperable fast chargers to support an expanding fleet of commercial EVs and improve operational efficiency for fleet owners and driver-partners.
By enhancing accessibility and lowering the cost of charging, Exponent seeks to reduce vehicle downtime and make electric commercial vehicles more viable for high-utilisation use cases.
Investor interest and sector context
The extended Series B comes amid heightened investor interest in EV infrastructure as India pushes toward cleaner transport. Startups that provide scalable, efficient and affordable charging solutions are emerging as pivotal enablers of the transition to electric mobility.
With this funding, Exponent Energy is positioned to expand its footprint in the charging ecosystem and contribute to the broader buildout of EV infrastructure across urban centres in India.
