NIT Rourkela BTech Student Lands Rs 1.31 Crore Package in Record Placement Season

NIT Rourkela has achieved its best-ever placement season with one BTech student securing a staggering Rs 1.31 crore annual package, the highest ever at the institute. The placement drive saw six BTech branches recording a 95.47 percent placement rate, while Computer Science and Engineering students bagged an average package of Rs 83.60 lakh per annum.

BTech and MTech Placement Highlights

Six BTech branches including Biomedical, Chemical, Ceramic, Computer Science, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering posted a placement rate of 95.47 percent. Biotechnology, Civil, Electronics, Industrial Design, and Metallurgical Engineering also crossed the 90 percent mark. In MTech, the highest CTC touched Rs 46.38 lakh for a Computer Science student, followed by Rs 44 lakh for Electronics and Communication. The average MTech package stood at Rs 11.90 lakh with a median salary of Rs 9 lakh.

Over 250 Internship Offers and Strong Recruiter Interest

Pre-final year students received a record 258 summer internship offers, with the highest stipend reaching Rs 1.50 lakh per month. More than 83 students secured packages above Rs 30 lakh per annum. A total of 374 recruiters participated in the drive, and nearly half of them were first-time visitors to the NIT Rourkela campus. Major names included Aditya Birla Group, Bharat Electronics Limited, JSW Group, Larsen and Toubro, ZS Associates, Vedanta Resources, Texas Instruments, ExxonMobil, Reliance Industries, Tata Consultancy Services, Deloitte USI, Cairn Oil and Gas, Hindustan Petroleum, Accenture, Deutsche India, Tata Steel, ICICI Bank, Teradata, NatWest, Qualcomm, and Tata Motors.

Software and IT Sector Dominates Hiring

The Software and IT Services sector accounted for the highest share of recruiters at 17.79 percent. BFSI followed at 11.52 percent, Electronics at 8.40 percent, Manufacturing at 8.09 percent, and Education at 7.23 percent. Recruiters also came from Aerospace, Automotive, Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Construction, FMCG, Healthcare, Mining, Pharmaceuticals, Robotics, and Telecommunications sectors. The strong placement numbers reflect growing industry confidence in NIT Rourkela talent across diverse engineering disciplines.
