Reliance Consumer Products Limited (RCPL), the FMCG arm of Reliance Industries, has entered the ice cream market with Bombay Creamery. The brand is India’s first affordable premium dairy brand made with real dairy ingredients. The range includes cones, cups, tubs, bars and sticks with prices starting at Rs 10.

Bombay Creamery Launches First in Western India

RCPL confirmed that Bombay Creamery will roll out in western India first. The company will expand nationwide after the initial launch. RCPL has been planning this entry since 2023 and launched after three years of preparation. The brand uses real dairy cream at a price every Indian family can afford. RCPL believes the affordable premium model will disrupt India’s ice cream market. The launch marks Reliance’s direct entry into a segment dominated by brands like Amul and Kwality Wall’s. Bombay Creamery aims to capture price-sensitive consumers with its value pricing strategy.

No Shortcuts in Dairy Products Says RCPL Director

RCPL director T. Krishnakumar said the brand philosophy rejects shortcuts in dairy products. He stated that RCPL is fully committed to the ice cream category. Krishnakumar emphasised that Bombay Creamery uses genuine dairy cream. The brand delivers authentic taste every time at an accessible price. He added that dairy products should not compromise on quality. The company had been developing the product for several years before launching it commercially.

Reliance Retail Expands Online Operations Alongside Launch

Reliance Retail Ventures Limited is expanding its online business over three years. The retail arm will strengthen Jiomart and increase dark stores. It will also improve its omni-channel capabilities. RCPL CFO Dinesh Taluja stated that the company focuses on positive unit economics. The company aims to double its operating profit before tax within three financial years. The investments are expected to deliver better profits in the coming years.
