Claude, the AI assistant from Anthropic, can now send emails in Gmail on your behalf. The new feature arrives through Google Workspace Connectors. Users connect their Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Drive accounts. They can then command Claude in plain language for everyday office tasks.
Claude Writes and Sends Email Replies
Claude announced on social media platform X that it can now send emails in Gmail. It can also manage files in Google Drive. Ask Claude to reply to any thread, and it drafts the answer. The AI understands the context of the conversation first. It then sends the reply through Gmail. Users decide when Claude needs their approval.
Approval Settings and Limits
By default, Claude asks for approval before sending, replying or forwarding emails. Team and enterprise admins can allow these actions without approval. One limit remains. Claude cannot read the content of Gmail attachments directly. The AI startup shared these details on its support page.
Google Drive File Management
The Drive integration adds several useful features. Claude can search and retrieve Google Docs. It can read Sheets, Slides, PDFs, images and Microsoft Office documents. Users can ask Claude to move, share or delete files. The AI can also create folders in Drive. When file creation features are on, files made by Claude save directly to Google Drive. Users can also attach Drive files in a Claude conversation by clicking the plus button.
Google Calendar Support
Claude works with Google Calendar as well. It can view calendars and create or update events. The AI checks the availability of all attendees. It can manage attendees and set up recurring meetings. This makes scheduling simpler for busy teams.
Privacy and Data Training
Claude uses connected Google data only when asked for a task. Anthropic does not train its models on Gmail, Drive or Calendar connector data. Information manually copied into Claude chats follows the user’s existing data settings. Dario Amodei’s company confirmed these privacy terms.
