Veteran actor Mukesh Khanna has refused to watch the trailer of Ramayana starring Ranbir Kapoor. The Mahabharat actor said excessive visual effects could hurt religious faith. He also warned that showing Raavan more than Ram on screen would offend audiences. Khanna remains concerned about Ranbir Kapoor’s casting as Lord Ram after his controversial role in Animal.

Khanna Skips Trailer Over Visual Effects Concerns

Mukesh Khanna revealed he wanted to watch the trailer but chose not to. Many people told him the trailer relied too heavily on computer graphics. He told The Free Press Journal that if Raavan gets more screen time than Ram, it will hurt religious sentiments. Khanna believes filmmakers should respect the epic story rather than focus on spectacle. He said special effects cannot replace the emotional depth of the Ramayana.

Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal Image Remains a Concern

Khanna addressed the widespread criticism of Ranbir Kapoor playing Lord Ram. He said Ranbir built a problematic image after the film Animal. He hopes the makers do not bring that image into Ramayana. Children look up to actors playing divine roles. Khanka had earlier criticised Animal for its violent content. He believes actors must maintain a clean public image when portraying gods on screen.
