Emraan Hashmi has delivered the biggest opening day of his career with Awarapan 2. The film earned Rs 27.20 crore gross worldwide on its first day in theatres. It comfortably outperformed Sunny Deol’s Batwara 1947 at the box office on the August 14 clash.
Record-Breaking Box Office Numbers
Awarapan 2 collected Rs 21 crore net in India on its opening day. The India gross collection stood at Rs 25.20 crore. Overseas markets contributed another Rs 2 crore to the worldwide total. The film beat Emraan’s previous best openers by a wide margin. Raaz 2 had earned Rs 10.35 crore and Badshaho had made Rs 12.60 crore on their opening days. Awarapan 2 has now become his highest-grossing day one film by a huge margin.
Huge Leap From the Original Part 1
The original Awarapan was a modest release back in 2007. It had earned just Rs 79 lakh on its opening day at the box office. The first film collected only Rs 2.88 crore over its entire first weekend. It was eventually declared a flop. Awarapan 2 has surpassed the original’s entire lifetime collection in a single day. This marks a remarkable turnaround for the franchise.

Nitin Kakkar directed the film while Vishesh Bhatt produced it. Emraan Hashmi plays the character Shivam Pandit in the movie.
