Jaguar Land Rover has unveiled the Range Rover Electric, marking the brand’s first fully electric luxury SUV. The global debut comes with simultaneous booking opening in India, as the flagship electric SUV promises a WLTP range of 600 km and fast-charging capability of adding 220 km in just 10 minutes.
Powertrain and Battery Details
The Range Rover Electric uses dual permanent-magnet electric motors delivering a combined 543 bhp and 850 Nm of torque. Each motor produces approximately 349 bhp, and the 850 Nm peak torque is the highest ever offered in any Range Rover model. The SUV rides on a double-stacked 118.5 kWh battery pack built on an 800-volt architecture.
Charging Speed and Real-World Range
A 350 kW DC fast charger can take the battery from 10 to 80 percent in about 22 minutes. Just 10 minutes of charging adds roughly 220 km of range. While the WLTP certified range is 600 km, JLR claims real-world conditions deliver approximately 535 km on a full charge.
Off-Road Capability Preserved
Despite switching to an electric powertrain, the Range Rover Electric retains strong off-road credentials. A new Integrated Traction Management system reacts to changing surfaces in just 50 milliseconds. The SUV offers single-pedal driving mode, can climb gradients of up to 45 degrees, and has a water-wading capacity of 900 mm.
Variants and India Launch
The Range Rover Electric will be offered in standard-wheelbase Autobiography and long-wheelbase SV, SV Ultra and SV Black variants. A special First Edition will be available in Belgravia Green, Santorini Black and Varesine Blue colours with a unique interior trim. India pricing has not been announced yet. The electric SUV will compete with the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, Volvo EX90 and BMW iX in the luxury EV segment. Production takes place at JLR’s Solihull plant in Britain, where Range Rover models have been built since 1970.
