POCO X8 5G Launches Globally with 8340mAh Battery, 50MP Camera and IP69K Water Resistance at Just $269

Xiaomi sub-brand POCO has unveiled the POCO X8 5G in global markets featuring a massive 8340mAh silicon-carbon battery, a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS, and an IP69K rating for extreme water and dust resistance. The smartphone runs Android 16 with HyperOS 3 and costs just $269 (roughly Rs 25,500) at the entry level. The India variant is expected to pack an even larger 9000mAh battery.

Display and Design

The POCO X8 5G sports a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Peak brightness reaches 3200 nits with HDR10+ support and 12-bit color depth. Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects the screen while 3,840Hz PWM dimming reduces eye strain. The phone weighs 223 grams and measures 163.45 x 78.27 x 8.6mm.

Performance and Software

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset powers the device with up to 12GB LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. Android 16 with HyperOS 3 delivers a smooth interface. An in-display fingerprint sensor and an infrared sensor add extra convenience.

Camera Capabilities

The rear setup features a 50-megapixel main sensor with OIS and EIS paired with a 2-megapixel depth sensor. Video recording tops out at 1080p. The 16-megapixel front camera handles selfies. AI tools include glare removal, erase pro, image expansion, and image enhancement. The phone supports underwater photography and dual-video recording.

Battery and Charging

The global variant houses an 8340mAh silicon-carbon battery with 13 percent silicon content. POCO claims 80 percent battery health retention even after 1,600 charge cycles. It supports 67W wired fast charging and 22.5W wired reverse charging. The India model may get a 9000mAh battery.

Durability and Connectivity

IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings protect against high-pressure water jets and dust. Connectivity options include dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, GLONASS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. The phone comes in Black, Orange, and White color options globally.

Pricing

The 6GB plus 128GB variant costs $269 (around Rs 25,500). The 8GB plus 256GB version is $299 (about Rs 28,400), and the 12GB plus 256GB top model sells for $349 (roughly Rs 33,100). The India launch date is yet to be announced.
