Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) shares climbed on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, after the company reported a robust 19 percent year-on-year jump in cargo volumes for August. The port operator handled 50 million metric tonnes of cargo during the month, driven by strong growth in dry cargo and container segments. The positive data pushed the stock higher even as the broader market faced pressure from rising US-Iran tensions.

Dry Cargo and Container Volumes Lead the August Growth

The company said dry cargo and container volumes were the primary drivers behind the monthly performance. Almost all major cargo segments recorded healthy growth during August 2026. The diversified cargo mix helped the company maintain steady throughput across its port network.

April-August Cargo Volumes Rise 16 Percent

From the start of the current fiscal year through August, APSEZ handled a total of 234.4 million metric tonnes of cargo. This marks a 16 percent increase compared to the same period last year. The cumulative figure reflects sustained operational momentum across the first five months of FY27.

Full-Year EBITDA Guidance Remains Unchanged at Rs 25,000-26,000 Crore

The company has not changed its business estimates for the full fiscal year. Adani Ports expects its EBITDA to stay between Rs 25,000 crore and Rs 26,000 crore for the entire financial year. The guidance signals management confidence in the growth trajectory.

Q1 Revenue Grew 18.6 Percent to Rs 10,821 Crore

In the June 2026 quarter, APSEZ revenue rose 18.6 percent year-on-year to Rs 10,821 crore. This compares with Rs 9,126 crore in the same quarter last year. The strong quarterly performance laid the foundation for the August volume surge.

The 19 percent cargo volume jump in August signals strong operational momentum for Adani Ports. The dry cargo and container segments continue to support the company’s growth trajectory amid challenging global trade conditions. Investors responded positively to the operational update despite broader market volatility.
