Kia India will launch the new full-size Sorento SUV on September 4 with pricing announcement scheduled for tomorrow. The Sorento is Kia’s first hybrid car in India and comes with petrol-hybrid and diesel powertrain options along with all-wheel drive. Pre-bookings are already open for Rs 25,000 at authorized dealerships across the country. Production of the SUV has already started at Kia’s manufacturing facility.
Premium SUV Competitors and Market Positioning
The Kia Sorento will compete with the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, MG Tomahawk, and Volkswagen Tayron in the premium SUV segment. Kia aims to strengthen its position in this segment with a feature-loaded offering. The Sorento is already a well-established model in global markets.
Bold Design and Exterior Highlights
The 2026 Sorento features L-shaped LED DRLs with vertically stacked projector headlamps at the front. A new gloss black-finished grille and ADAS sensors on the air dam add a modern touch. Roof rails, a shark-fin antenna, and an integrated spoiler with a high-mounted stop lamp complete the exterior. The rear gets wraparound LED taillights, large alloy wheels, and contrast-colored skid plates that enhance its SUV character.
Feature-Rich Cabin and Comfort
The cabin comes with Level 2 ADAS, a panoramic sunroof, a new 4-spoke steering wheel, and an auto-dimming IRVM. Front seats offer electric adjustment and ventilation for enhanced comfort. Second-row passengers get sunshades and comfort headrests. A powered tailgate makes loading cargo easier. The Sorento is a 7-seater SUV with spacious seating across all three rows.
Powertrain Options and Performance
The Sorento will be available with a petrol-hybrid powertrain and a diesel engine option. Both variants are expected to come with an all-wheel drive system. This combination targets buyers who want premium SUV performance with strong all-weather driving capability. The diesel variant also gets a DCT gearbox option for smooth driving.
