The long-simmering dispute over Don 3 has escalated as Ranveer Singh’s father Jagjeet Singh Bhavnani steps in to represent the actor before the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA). Producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani have formally complained against Ranveer for walking out of the film, causing crores in losses. The producers’ body has now taken up the matter after months of back-and-forth between the two camps.

Father Joins Legal Battle

IMPPA President Abhay Sinha confirmed that Ranveer’s father contacted the association three days ago seeking a meeting. The senior Bhavnani will now present Ranveer’s side before the producers’ body. This comes after Ranveer’s lawyer initially refused to engage, stating the matter falls outside IMPPA’s jurisdiction. The lawyer later sent an email agreeing to meet at a mutually convenient time.

Dispute Timeline Unfolds

The controversy began in 2023 when Farhan Akhtar released a promo introducing Ranveer Singh as the new Don. He was set to follow Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan in the iconic franchise. However, in April 2026, news broke that Ranveer had quit the project, leaving producers shocked. The film was still in pre-production at the time.

Evidence Presented to Committee

Farhan and Ritesh have submitted multiple documents to IMPPA as evidence. These include the original Don 3 promo featuring Ranveer. Farhan also showed the committee a message from Ranveer stating he was no longer interested in the film. A committee member confirmed they do not know Ranveer’s exact reason for leaving the project.

Financial Losses Mount

The film was in pre-production when Ranveer exited, and substantial money had already been spent. Sources say Farhan and the production team suffered financial losses running into crores. Ranveer’s camp claims he was being delayed and that producers were not serious about the project. No official statement has come from Ranveer or his team yet.

What Happens Next

IMPPA has confirmed that a meeting will be scheduled soon. Ranveer’s father and lawyer are expected to attend. It remains unclear whether Ranveer himself will be present. The association had earlier sent a letter seeking Ranveer’s response, which was answered only by his legal team. The outcome could set a precedent for similar disputes in Bollywood.
