Maruti Suzuki has launched the 2026 Baleno facelift in India at a starting ex-showroom price of Rs 6.10 lakh. The premium hatchback gets a new 1.2-liter three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine and a segment-first Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System. The updated Baleno brings a host of safety, comfort, and technology upgrades to strengthen its position in the competitive premium hatchback segment against models like the Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz.
New Engine and Improved Performance
The 2026 Baleno now features the same 1.2-liter three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine found in the new Swift and Dzire. Maruti has replaced the old engine with this unit as part of its new strategy. The company chose to stick with a naturally aspirated setup instead of adding a turbocharger. This new engine delivers solid mileage for daily city commutes and offers a smooth, refined driving experience. The engine prioritizes efficiency and refinement over outright power, making it ideal for urban driving conditions.
Level 2 ADAS and Advanced Safety Suite
The biggest highlight of the new Baleno is the Level 2 ADAS package, a segment-first feature in the premium hatchback category. It includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, and auto high-beam assist. All variants come standard with six airbags for comprehensive occupant protection. Additional safety features include ABS with EBD, a Tire Pressure Monitoring System, and hill-hold assist for easier uphill starts. The new Baleno sets a new safety benchmark in its class and raises the bar for rivals.
Cabin Upgrades and Premium Features
The cabin has been redesigned to be more comfortable and modern than before. A wireless charging pad with cooling technology prevents smartphones from overheating during long charging sessions. A Clarion premium audio system delivers high-quality in-car entertainment. The front seats now offer ventilation for added comfort during hot weather in Indian conditions. The car also looks more attractive with updated exterior styling elements. Maruti expects the new Baleno to continue its strong sales momentum with these meaningful updates across design, performance, and safety.
